So the blogging hiatus caused by my move has dragged out, extended first by an illness, then by a hard drive failure, and now by the need to finalise preparation for the courses I’ll begin teaching in a couple of weeks. I do have some posts planned for the near future but, in the interim, wanted to point people to an interesting discussion at Scott Eric Kaufman’s Acephalous blog. Scott is analysing various tendencies and trends in academic blogging - trying to get his… er… head around whether academic blogs can be usefully categorised in terms of “public” and “private” or “personal” and “professional”, why female academics seem to be more likely to blog anonymously, why Australia seems to generate lots of bloggers, and the ever popular question of whether it is safe for untenured academics to blog at all.
