		<description>lol - I&#039;m not actually trying to pick on the students :-)  I do know that this is fairly common (and, of course, all of us read &quot;bits&quot; of books when trying to decide what books we&#039;ll read in detail).  I think, to be honest, the exchange struck me so strongly because I&#039;ve been writing intensively, and in the process thinking so much about the interrelation of parts of an overarching argument - there&#039;s an element of... mortality, in a way, in being reminded that this is, very likely, how whatever I will produce will ultimately be read...  :-)</description>
