One of the stranger official emails I’ve received in a while, but it certainly does place my own office space issues into perspective:
From the Site Meeting last week, we have requested a schedule of the proposed noisy works that will occur this week…
The Portfolio have made available 3 office spaces in Bld [X]… for any staff requiring a quiet space to work. The co-ordinators in [Y] and [Z] have been advised and they can contact [A] for keys… staff have been supplied with ear plugs and ear muffs in some areas.
Can you please ensure that all staff are notified of this information and my apologies for the short notice. (italics mine)
This email makes me very curious who those staff might be, who don’t require a quiet space to work – and I won’t even get into the images conjured by the notion that we have groups of researchers, PhD students and office staff working alongside one another in ear muffs…
