When the Messenger Shoots

I probably can’t blog about this in enough detail to make the situation intelligible, but just a few small words of advice for administrative staff who would like to avoid driving a sessional staff member into cardiac arrest…

As a matter of general practice, I’d suggest not opening a call with an apology for not having brought such a serious allegation to my attention earlier – particularly when said allegation is not going to be outlined, the alleger will not be named and – here is the main point – I am not actually the person being accused!!!

Eyes on the prize, folks: if all you want is for me to extend a deadline while an issue completely unrelated to me is being resolved – just ask!!! I don’t really need to know anything else (and, evidently, you can’t tell me anything else, which is absolutely proper and fine – but for god’s sake don’t beat around the bush and leave my obviously over-active imagination spinning while I try to figure out where all this is headed…).

I’ll just go try to calm down now… *deep breaths* *deep breaths*
